      Anyone considering upgrading their Apple iPod might want to give their old iPod to Kelsey Paule. The Oak Park 13-year-old is collecting used and new iPods and iTune cards in good condition to donate to American soldiers.

Finders seeks third term on Las Virgenes Board of Education

      Terilyn Finders, president of the Las Virgenes Unified School District's Board of Education, has served two terms, but she says there's more work yet to be done. Finders is running for reelection and will vie for one of two open seats on the panel.

Athlete paddleboards down California coastline
      On Sat., Oct. 20, extreme endurance athlete and environmentalist Tom Jones will enter the final phase of a three-month-long expedition to paddleboard the length of the entire California coastline. He is attempting to be the first person to travel the 1,250 miles on a 14-foot paddleboard.

      Time ended unceremoniously on Sept. 19 with a simple message from AT&T. The phone company's "Time of Day Service Information" accessed by dialing 8531212 was discontinued because, according to the phone folks, there are so many ways to keep time in our hightech world.
