Students invited to join model United Nations program

The Triunfo YMCA is seeking teens in sixth through ninth grades for its Model United Nations program. Meetings are held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursdays twice a month at Sumac Elementary School, 6050 North Calmfield Ave., Agoura Hills. The next meeting will be Oct. 11.

Model United Nations is part of the statewide YMCA Youth and Government program and is a simulation of the United Nations Assembly.

The student ambassadors will research, debate and establish policies, treaties and resolutions focusing on international issues, including disputes between countries, peace-keeping responsibilities and hunger, disease and poverty.

Participants will join other teens from across the state at two conferences: one at Camp Roberts in Paso Robles in March and a second in Pasadena in May.
