Support your local sheriff

To the Agoura Hills woman and all others critical of our Sheriff's Department, saying they do "seemingly nothing," let's try to remember what these guys do every day. And if you need a reminder, they wake up each morning and strap on armor prepared to put themselves between the scum of the earth and us.

In the case of Dep. Jim Mulay, Dep. Mike Rames and most recently Dep. John Young, they were very badly injured doing that very thing.

Dep. Mulay was intentionally rammed by an armed bank robber, and deputies Rames and Young were injured going after, let's see, speeders. Hmm, what do you know?

Have you noticed the Sheriff's Blotter lately? Whereas it used to read like a novella, now you can fit it on the back of a matchbook. Very often I come home in the middle of the night and more times than not, there are one or two patrol cars scanning my neighborhood.

Maybe if the general public took a different view of the sheriff and other law enforcement agencies, appreciated them more, understood their sacrifice, and taught their children to respect them and ultimately reject the relentless negative depiction of them in the fictional and reallife media, people would slow down on their own initiative.
