Local agencies receive $1.8 million in grants More than $1.8 million in grants have been awarded to local organizations, according to the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. Half of the money will be used to fund senior nutrition programs; 38 percent will be spent on other programs directly serving the county's older adults; and 12 percent will help informal family caregivers who meet eligibility requirements. The primary funding source for the grants is the federal Older Americans Act. The Older Californians Act provides the rest of the money. Grant or cash awards cannot be made available to individuals. Grant recipients are: ACTION Foundation, Camarillo Health Care District, Caregivers: Volunteers Assisting the Elderly, Catholic Charities OASIS, Grey Law of Ventura County Inc., Long Term Care Services of Ventura County Inc., SER-Jobs for Progress, Shop Ahoy Elderpride Inc., Ventura County Fire Protection District, Ventura County Transportation Commission, Conejo Valley Senior Concerns and FOOD Share. Also, Alzheimer's Association-California Central Coast Chapter Inc., Gold Coast CareGivers, Home Remedies, Sting Rae Productions, Kids and Families Together, Long Term Care Services of Ventura County Inc., Senior Concerns, San Salvador Mission , HELP of Ojai ConAgra Culinary Products, Jordano's and the cities of Moorpark, Oxnard, Fillmore, Port Hueneme, Simi Valley, Ventura, Santa Paula, Thousand Oaks.
