Westlake baseball team enjoys Colorado

In only their third year playing together, the Westlake Coyotes baseball team capped off a successful 2007 season by participating in the under11 National World Series held Aug. 711 in Steamboat Springs, Colo.

Sixty teams from around the U.S. participated in the series after qualifying through regional tournament play. The Coyotes finished ninth in the nation for the 11-and-unders.

While facing some of the best teams in the country, the Coyotes were No. 1 following pool play having scored 30 runs and givingup zero. With some of the best pitching in the tournament, backed by an outstanding defense, the team posted four shut-outs en route to their top-10 finish.

After the tournament, the boys' families were able to enjoy the rafting, the luge run from the top of the mountain, and the whole Steamboat experience.

The team is coached by Paul Noack, Bill Dallas and Tom Foudy.
