Chamber event will take hard look at education in California

Today's Calabasas Chamber of Commerce luncheon will feature a local superintendent's view on the state of education in California.

Donald Zimring, head of the Las Virgenes Unified School District, will speak at the luncheon, which is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet with the education committee and learn how the business community is partnering with local schools to help develop future business leaders.

The Calabasas Bowling Tournament champions- the Texaco Xpress Lube Strikers- winners of the Cal Cup, will also be on hand. The bowlers helped raise funds for the Chamber's awards and scholarship program.

The event will be held at the Calabasas Country Club, 4515 Park Entrada.

Admission is $30 for members and $35 for nonmembers and those without reservations. The country club dress code prohibits denim, Tshirts, athletic wear and cellphones.
