Vons supports Boys & Girls Clubs with grant

The Boys & Girls Clubs of the West Valley received a $5,000 grant from the Vons Foundation to create and support a new Teen Tech Center at the club.

The Vons donation will be used to acquire 10 desktop computers and two printers in a section of the club to be named the Teen Tech Lab, a spokesperson said.

The lab will provide teens an opportunity to do their homework during Power Hour and many other programs, including web design, photo tech, music tech and movie tech.

The programs are designed to enhance the teens' ability to be creative, learn unique computer skills, and enhance their design capabilities.

The club of the West Valley was founded in 1995 as a response to the local need for safe, healthy, productive activities for youth during non-school hours. Approximately 100 youngsters visit the facility each day.

The West Valley club is at 7245 Remmet Ave., Canoga Park.
