Globe Theater to feature two Shakespeare plays, benefit show

The Globe Theater in Topanga and Los Angeles Shakespeare Company present "The Fantasticks" and Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" at the new Globe Theater in Topanga, 1909 N. Topanga Canyon Blvd.

"The Fantasticks" is billed as the world's longest running musical. This production is directed by Ge offrey Forward with comusical directors Susan Treworgy and Diann Alexander.

Performance dates are 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, Sept. 22, 23, and 29, and Oct. 6, 13, and 14.

"Twelfth Night," a comedy of mistaken identities and genders, is directed by T. Michael and will run at 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through Oct. 28.

Tickets for either show are $25 adults and $20 seniors, students and groups of 10 or more. Reservations are recommended. Parking is free.

Folk singer/songwriter Susan Lovell and The Topanga Canyon Band will perform at 2 p.m. Sun., Sept. 30 at The Globe.

The performance will benefit the educational and cultural programs of the Globe Theater.

The event will include complimentary wine, light buffet, dessert and coffee.

Lovell will perform her own songs and poetry as well as songs by well-known folk artists such as Bob Dylan, Linda Ronstadt, John Denver and Paul Simon.

The band features Frank Harper on banjo and dobro, Lon Miller on bass, Janet Crouch on cello and Leo Shulman on guitar.

Tickets are $45 adults and $35 for seniors, students and groups of 10 or more. Parking is free.
