What's new on DVD this month

The Simpsons (Season 10)- To have double-digit seasons is rare in television, and the wacky adventures of the animated dysfunctional family from Springfield are part of small screen history. The Simpsons have long surpassed The Flintstones as prime time's longest-running animated series. Creator Matt Groening provides 23 episodes of mirth and merriment. This season Marge, Homer and Bart are joined by characters voiced by George Carlin, Alec Baldwin, Lisa Kudrow, Jerry Springer, Ron Howard and Elton John, among others. (Fox)

Tales from the Crypt (Season Six)- Adapted from those gruesome horror comics of the 1950s come 15 new gory stories. Purposely campy, deliberately over-the-top, darkly humorous, it is one of HBO's best shows. Designed for a three-year run, the popularity of the series stretched it to seven. The cryptkeeper (John Kassir) will keep you in stitches as he takes the audience through some harrowing yarns. Guests on the double-disc title include John Lithgow, Hank Azaria, Isabella Rossellini, Richard Lewis, Shelley Hack and even Humphrey Bogart. (Warner)

Star Trek (Captain's Log Fan Collective)- The fifth in the series reaches a new level, not just by including a fifth disc, but by providing a host of brandnew content. Each series- Classic, Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise- is represented. The captains- William Shatner, Patrick Stewart, Avery Brooks, Kate Mulgrew and Scott Bakula- introduce their personal favorites, and the fivedisc offering includes new interviews from the space chiefs. (Paramount)

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (The Friendship Edition)- The likable little bear spends his days singing with friends in the Hundred Acre Wood as they go about their everyday activities, foraging for honey and navigating strong streams. Essentially a compilation of three animated short stories, Pooh is filled with wistful music, comical writing, brilliant artwork and engaging characters such as Tigger, Piglet and Christopher Robin. Look for supplemental materials including singalong songs, bonus shorts, quiz games, a making-of featurette and a Winnie the Pooh art gallery. (Disney)

Extras (Second Season)- Popular British comedian Ricky Gervais (The Office) is back for more as aspiring actor Andy Millman working hard to succeed despite being hampered by an inept agent (Stephen Merchant). Guest stars include David Bowie, Robert De Niro and Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter). The two- disc, six-episode unit offers more than 100 minutes of bonus material, including bloopers, outtakes, cast interviews and a behind-the-scenes look at the production of the show. Full House (Season Seven)- Summer camp, romance, soccer, junior high, nightclub renovations and even the thought of selling their beloved home are all part of this season's story lines for the adventures of San Francisco's unconventional Tanner clan led by Danny (Bob Saget), a widowed father left to raise his fastgrowing daughters. (Warner)

The Esther Williams Collection- The movie mermaid from Hollywood's Golden Era is featured in five films: "Bathing Beauty," "Easy to Wed," "On An Island With You," "Neptune's Daughter" and "Dangerous When Wet." Among the co-stars are Red Skelton, Lucille Ball, Jimmy Durante and Ricardo Montalban. Waves of extras include outtakes, cartoons and classic shorts. (Warner)

The Elvis Collection- Elvis Presley stars with a bevy of beauties in this four-disc set. The King portrays a boxer, riverboat entertainer, million-heir and of course a goodoleboy in "Follow That Dream," "Frankie and Johnny," "Clambake" and "Kid Galahad." (MGM)

300 TwoDisc Special Edition- From the graphic novel of Frank Miller (Sin City) that became the number one R-rated box office hit of the year, "300" debuts on DVD. Combining brilliant computer animation with live-action, the picture stars Gerard Butler as Grecian king Leonidas leading his Spartans against Persian invaders at Thermopylae in 480 B.C. Bonus material includes a photo gallery; deleted scenes; writer, director, cinematographer commentaries; and a feature with historians, filmmakers and authors debating how much of the film was based on fact. (Warner)

Home Run Derby (Volume One)- A simple concept of allstars in a one-on-one slugging tournament yielded a popular series in the late '50s and early '60s. The premiere edition was filmed in 1959 at Los Angeles' Wrigley Field and featured future HallofFamers Mickey Mantle, Willie Mays, Ernie Banks and Hank Aaron. (MGM)

Dallas (Seventh Season)- Who shot J.R.? Trouble at Southfork is as common as a wildcatter drilling dust in the prairies. Texas oil magnates (led by Larry Hagman as J.R. Ewing) and their shady dealings and even shadier dysfunctional family behavior made for a popular series. Once again, greed and lust are leading themes, but this brilliant season uses exceptional writing and performances for some engaging twists and revelations over a fivedisc, 30episode presentation. Co-stars include Linda Gray, Victoria Principal, Patrick Duffy and Charlene Tilton. (Warner)
