Music, food at medical benefit

The Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation will host the second annual Festival of Flavor from 1 to 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 16 at the Palms Outlet Center in Oxnard.

The event will benefit programs such as the mobile mammography vehicle and treating children with critical illnesses at the Ventura County Medical Center.

The festival will feature a silent auction, opportunity drawing, healthcare exhibits and more than 100 food, wine and beverage vendors. The new mobile mammography vehicle will be on site for the public to tour.

The Buenaventura Art Association and individual artists will display painting, photography, sculpture, wood craftsmanship, mosaic and jewelry.

Soul City Survivors and surf band Papa Doo Run Run will provide music.

The Ventura County Health Care Agency will be distributing information about services available through public health and behavioral health organizations, such as Area Agency on Aging, Tri-Counties Cancer Detection Partnership and more.

Tickets are $55 prior to the event and $65 at the door. AARP members receive a $10 discount. For more information or to purchase tickets, call (805) 485-8050, ext. 10.

For more than 50 years, the Ventura County Medical Resource Foundation has served the county through such programs as funding a three-year strategic plan for its Cancer Task Force, funding medical equipment for the first mobile mammography vehicle in the county, funding healthcare programs and services for agricultural workers and helping to establish the neonatal intensive care and pediatrics units at Ventura County Medical Center.
