Volunteers needed for annual creek clean up

The Mountains Restoration Trust is seeking volunteers to assist with the following cleanup activities. Participants may gain community service credit for these events.

•Dry Canyon Creek habitat restoration, 8 to 11 a.m., Sun., Sept. 15. Help restore a headwater ecosystem of the Los Angeles at Headwaters Corner in Calabasas. Reservations are required by calling (818) 591-1701, ext. 205.

•Oak tree restoration/commemorative oaks, 8 to 11 a.m., Sat., Sept. 29, Malibu Creek State Park. Remove nonnative plants and water oak tree seedlings and native bunch grasses so they can survive drought. Reservations required by calling (818) 591-1701, ext. 203.

•Help restore the life in one of the mountain's riparian rich habitats, Cold Creek Preserve, from 8 to 11 a.m. Sat., Sept. 30. The creek-side restoration work in a natural garden setting will bring back native trees and California bunch grasses. Reservations are required by calling (818) 591-1701, ext. 203.
