Elected official wasn't very responsive I have lived in the Conejo Valley for many years and have usually found the elected individuals in this community to be very responsive to inquiries and requests. Unfortunately, Linda Parks, one of our supervisors, is a glaring exception to this rule.I called Linda Parks' office on four separate occasions over a two week period, leaving messages with one of her assistants and never recieved the courtesy of a return call. On all of these occasions, when I called again, I was assured that Ms. Parks had received the message. What particularly upsets me about this is that I participated in organizing two coffees for Linda Parks- one when she was running for (Thousand Oaks) City Council and the other when she was running for supervisor. At that time, of course, she was all sweetness and light, assuring everyone in the room that "should you ever have a problem, do not hesitate to contact me," etc., etc. I also saw her at a recent community event where she was again her charming "public" self, interacting with lots of folks and acting as if she was really concerned about their needs. I know that this is unfortunately the "real world" of politics but it is nevertheless a big disappointment and also, as I mentioned earlier, not the norm in our community. I will certainly think twice about supporting Linda Parks in the future and urge others to do so as well. Dina Adler Westlake Village |
