Chisholm hired as sports information director at CLU

Scott Chisholm
Scott Chisholm has joined California Lutheran University as sports information director.

Chisholm comes to CLU from University of La Verne, where he served as an assistant sports information director while pursuing his MBA. He oversaw game management for 17 athletic teams at La Verne, a member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

He received his bachelor's degree in film and television with a broadcast journalism emphasis at Chapman University, where he also worked as an intern in the Sports Information Office.

An avid athlete who excelled in swimming and water polo at the collegiate level, Chisholm is well versed in covering all sports.

Chisholm, who completed his MBA at La Verne this month, has experience in writing, broadcasting, statistics, Web development and media relations. In 2006, he worked for the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes as an announcer for the Los Angeles Angels-affiliate baseball team.

Chisholm replaces Tracy Maple, who now serves as sports information director for Occidental College.

Chisholm comes on board just as the athletics programs at CLU are expanding. His office is in the new Gilbert Sports and Fitness Center that opened in October 2006 and includes two major gymnasiums, the Lundring Events Center, a fitness center, a dance studio, classrooms and labs, a sports medicine facility, the Ventura County Sports Hall of Fame and faculty, coaches and athletics staff offices.

The athletics complex also includes the Samuelson Aquatics Center, George "Sparky" Anderson Baseball Field and Ullman Stadium, soccer fields and track and field facilities. The CLU Kingsmen and Regals athletic teams compete in the SCIAC conference as members of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, Division III.

The men's intercollegiate program includes baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, and water polo. Women's intercollegiate sports include basketball, cross country, softball, soccer, swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball and water polo.
