Spilka receives Mortar Board Fellowship

Samantha Spilka, a recent graduate of San Diego State University, was named recipient of the Mortar Board Diane Selby Fellowship, a $5,000 award. She is the daughter of Mark and Judy Spilka of Agoura Hills.

Spilka was initiated into Mortar Board in 2006 and served as chapter president. She will attend Columbia University Teachers College this fall to obtain her Master of Arts in organizational psychology with specialization in human resources management and international cooperation and conflict resolution.

Fellowship recipients are chosen based on academic excellence, recommendation, promise, financial need and Mortar Board involvement.

Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for outstanding achievement in scholarship, leadership and service.
