Cellist to play for High Holy Days

World renowned cellist Michael Fitzpatrick will appear at Temple Kol Tikvah for High Holy Days.

The musician will play for the congregation during Selichot service in preparation for the High Holy Days at 9 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8 at the synagogue, 20400 Ventura Blvd., Woodland Hills. This service is open to the community.

Fitzpatrick will perform the traditional cello Kol Nidre melody for the High Holy Day service at 7:30 p.m. Fri., Sept. 21 in the Living Room at the Church on the Way at 14300 Sherman Way, Van Nuys. Tickets for this service are required and available at the temple office.

Fitzpatrick has been the recipient of the Prince Charles Award for outstanding musicianship. He has used his music as a vehicle for world peace while performing across the United States, in the former Soviet Union, Jordon, India, Switzerland, Spain, Romania, Italy and Canada. He has also worked with the Dalai Lama on the recording "Compassion."

Fitzpatrick is the founder and artistic director of Millennia Music which provides inspirational music to individuals in hospitals, hospice and care centers for the elderly.
