Quilt show commemorates heroes
Project provides handmade quilts for wounded soldiers

A quilt show titled "Heroes in our World" will take place from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sat., Sept. 8 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sun., Sept. 9 at the Airtel Plaza Hotel, 7277 Valjean Ave., Van Nuys.

Admission for one day is $7, both days $10. Parking costs $6.

The featured artist will be Sue Rasmussen of Simi Valley. Events include lectures, workshops, a small quilt auction Sunday at 2 p.m., doll display, vendors and a Veteran's Quilt Project Sew-in.

The Veteran'sQuilt Project provides quilts for wounded veterans returning from service in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the sewin participants will create blocks for the quilts. That will take place from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
