Oak Park company wins technology award The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced that the Teranex Video Computer is a recipient of the 2007 Primetime Emmy Engineering Award. Teranex will receive the award, a plaque for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development, during the Primetime Creative Arts ceremony on Sat., Sept. 8 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The company is headquartered in Orlando, Fla., with offices in Oak Park. The Teranex Video Computer is a processing platform for broadcast and post productionthatconverts video and film signals from SD t o HD and back. The computer also performs film restoration electronically by removing noise, dirt, grain and scratches in real time, brings out detail in content, adds film look and removes compression artifacts. Also, the computer can perform pre-compression image processing to improve quality and lower the bit-rate of the transmitted picture. The 2007 Primetime Emmy Engineering Awards are overseen by John Nachreiner, the engineering committee chair. The Engineering Plaque is given for achievements that exhibit a high level of engineering and are important to the progress of the industry. |
