Student movie to screen at Westlake Twin tonight
Holmes stars in the film, which according to Kuperberg is about a young man in high school who has trouble relating to people, probably because he's a scientific genius. "Victor Walton doesn't know how to fit in," Kuperberg said about the leading character. "He doesn't know how to talk to girls (and) doesn't know how to make friends." But Walton has a superior IQ which enables him to concoct a wild plan to "acquire everything he lacks," Kuperberg said. The film was produced with the help of dozens of their friends, who perform choreographed dance numbers in the movie. "It's been entirely student run- writing, choreography, filming, everything," Kuperberg said. Agoura High senior Bryan Felber co-produced the film with Kuperberg and handled the cinematography. Holmes wrote the musical score and plays the lead character. Other students featured in the movie include Jama McMahon and Alex Paul. Kuperberg and Holmes graduated from Agoura High in June. Kuperberg, a former student film winner at the Calabasas Method Fest, will attend Yale University. Holmes will attend the University of Michigan with the intent of majoring in musical theater. The Westlake Village Twin will screen "Doppelgangers" at 10 p.m. Doors open at 9:45 p.m. The movie's running time is approximately 50 minutes. Tickets are $5. The Westlake Village Twin is located at 4711 Lakeview Canyon Road in Westlake Village. |
