WAGS U-16 team returns from Oregon with first-place prize

      The first time was a charm for the WestlakeAgoura Girls Softball under-16 team. Despite its storied history of youth championships, WAGS had never before fielded a U-16 squad until this season.

      Listed below are the winners from the 20th annual Westlake Junior Golf Club Championship, held at Westlake Golf Course from Aug. 6-9. This summer, 275 junior golfers from the Conejo Valley participated in the program.

Christian surfers hit the waves

      Sascha Cabrera enjoyed surfing so much, she might just try it again next weekend. Cabrera, a 16-year-old senior at Oaks Christian School, was one of several newcomers from Calvary Community Church in Westlake Village to hit the waves early Sunday morning at Mondos cove in Ventura.

      New Agoura High girls' volleyball head coach Carlos Cojulun believes he's the man to help lead the Charger program back to prominence. Agoura hired Cojulun in May, after former head coach Amanda Kiser opted not to return.

Shetland squad makes World Series
      ALL-STARS MAKE HISTORY- The Agoura PONY Baseball Shetland All-Star team won the sectional tournament and finished fourth at regionals. Agoura advanced to the Shetland World Series in Chino Hills for the first time. The team won two of its three games and finished ninth out of 24 teams.
