Westlake's Krems cracks top 50

Twelve-year-old Sivan Krems of Westlake Village competed in the United States Tennis Association's 12andunder Zone Team Championships in Tucson, Ariz., last month and won all five of her singles matches and all of her doubles matches.

The stellar play from Krems in the tournament earned her a top 50 national ranking for girls 12 and under.

"I always had a goal to get in the top 50 ranked players, and it was really cool to find out that I finally made the goal," Krems said.

Krems credited a lot of her success to her doubles partner, Alexis Pereira from San Gabriel.

"I thought I really clicked with my doubles partner," Krems said. "We worked really well together, and my volleys were really good in the tournament as well."

Krems, who will be attending seventh grade at Colina Middle School this fall, competed this week at the United States Tennis Association's 12andunder National Championships in Lexington, Ky. - Thomas Gase
