Calabasas landfill just keeps growing

Has anyone noticed how large the Calabasas Landfill is becoming? The Calabasas Landfill now dominates the eastern skyline as one travels southbound on the 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills.

Having surpassed the Great Pyramid of Giza, it will soon dwarf Ladyface Mountain. Appropriately, I have nicknamed it Mount Basura. From the northbound direction, Mount Basura is even rearing its ugly head above the crest of the lovely, pastoral, tree-studded hillside behind the Las Virgenes Fire Station.

Shockingly, it seems like closing this landfill or diverting its trash to someplace else isn't even on the agenda for discussion anywhere.

A couple of months ago the Daily News ran an article about all the thousands of new apartments and condos that have or are being built or planned for in the west San Fernando Valley. Has anyone considered where all the trash from all these thousands of new domiciles is going to go?

I think anyone who's concerned about their property values in Old Agoura would like to know. Wayne McCormick Woodland Hills
