Latter-day Saints participate in boat race

During a weekend conference in Ventura Harbor last month, 10 teams of about 10 people each participated in the Shark Bait Invitational Boat Race.

Each team was given two large pieces of cardboard, two rolls of duct tape and some silicone spray. They had 30 minutes to design and construct a boat using those materials before racing it to and from a harbor buoy.

The boat race and conference were conducted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

n Newbury Park. More than 160 youths and 40 chaperones participated in the conference, which presented other team-building and service activities for its participants.

The youths also visited local seniors and families in need to provide services such as housecleaning and yardwork.
