Area residents invited to learn about wildfire safety The Ventura County Fire Departmentw illconduct community meetings in Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Ojai, and Simi Valley to inform the public and answer questions on the "Ventura County Wildfire Action Plan: Evacuate Early or Stay and Defend." The plan also affects the unincorporated Ventura County homes in Oak Park. The meeting schedule is as follows: •Camarillo- 6:30 p.m. Thurs., July 26, Camarillo City Hall, 601 Carmen Drive •Thousand Oaks- 6:30 p.m. July 30, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd. • Simi Valley- 7 p.m. Aug. 8, Simi Valley Library, 2969 Tapo Canyon Road •Ojai- 7 p.m. Aug. 15, Ojai Women's Club, 307 E. Ojai Ave. At the meetings, fire officials will provide information on the plan and answer questions. The "Ventura County Wildfire Action Plan" was distributed to residents on July 13. The campaign encourages citizens to make plans now to either evacuate early or take an active role in defending their homes when threatened by wildfires.
