Charger Girls win superior award

TOP CHEERLEADERS- The 53-member Charger Girls of Agoura High School won the Team Unity award at a recent USA Camp of Champions at UC Irvine.
The 2007-08 Charger Girls of Agoura High School recently returned from the USA Camp of Champions held at UC Irvine.

Agoura's 53-member team, under the direction of Coach Eileen McGrew, took home the Team Unity award, which requires the ranking of "superior" for each of the skill categories voted on by the staff and also reflects the choice of the other 600 campers.

The fourday camp, which includes skill workshops for cheerleaders and song leaders, is open only to teams who have been finalists in a national competition.

McGrew, who has been coaching the spirit team for 17 years, was recently named AHS Coach of the Year by coaches at the high school. Her teams have been USA National CrowdLeading Champions six times and won the first CIF Cheerleading Championships. Their most recent victory was in March at the USA National Crowd-Leading Championships in Anaheim.
