Wrong note

Doesn't any one proofread? I was appalled at the mistake in the July 12 opinion editorial. To call George Gershwin "Gershman" is practically blasphemy.

I suppose the headline "It'ss summertime, and the livin's not all that easy" can be forgiven as an artistic or stylistic choice, but not for Mr. Gershwin.

The error, by the way, is compounded by not acknowledging the author of the novel "Porgy," DuBose Heyward, who is also credited with the lyrics for "Summertime."

I certainly hope you will print a correction and apology to Mr. Gershwin. Robert Heiber Calabasas
