HOAs are 'scaremongering' People buy the houses here because they like the look of the houses, and it's a good school district and it's on the edge of a great wilderness area. The homeowners' outdated rule book comes in a very poor third. I do not think renters are shown the HOA book of rules by the landlords because the rules would deter people from renting their properties. Homeowners' cars are not allowed to park in designated parking spots after 5 p.m.; otherwise, they will be fined or towed. This is just the time when people begin to arrive home from work, sometimes loaded up with shopping or coming and going with children. Children are not be allowed to play outside their own homes. Retirees of this Oak Park community have attended HOA meetings over the years and totally eroded the children's right to play outside. This is one of the very best school districts in the whole of California and, yes, children do exist here. This is not a retirement community. Every single one of the parents in my cul de sac is in favor of letting children play outside. Michael Hogan's wrote in his July 5 letter about children partying and openly drinking in the streets does not happen in Oak Park or Agoura Hills. This is absolute rubbish. How often have the readers of The Acorn see this happening in our area? This is just HOA scaremongering to keep children confined to their homes. Derek Gardner Oak Park |
