Deputies and good Samaritans help woman in need

I was recently involved in an accident on Pacific Coast Highway which afforded me the opportunity to experience my tax dollars at work. I have to say I was very impressed.

One of our Lost Hills Sheriff's deputies was there almost immediately and, after checking in on me, took charge of the scene. The paramedics from Malibu station arrived in moments and after doing an assessment, transported me to the hospital.

At Los Robles I was tended to by a great staff of nurses and doctors who made me comfortable and checked to see I wasn't missing anything important I might want to use later in case I wanted to write a letter, for instance.

None of us take these people for granted and, I'm sure, none of us really want to take advantage of their services, but it's good to know they're there and waiting for us should we ever be in need.

I'd also like to thank the passersby who looked over me until help arrived. There was Linda the nurse practitioner who assessed my level of consciousness and my mental capacity which, I have to admit, was never that high to begin with. I remember feeling I couldn't be all that seriously injured because I was thinking, "Wow, she's really pretty." My situation prevented further inquiry, however.

There was the woman who stood over me to keep the sun out of my eyes and the guy that lifted the motorcycle off my leg and retrieved my wallet, cellphone and sunglasses. Thank you all. I'd say it was nice meeting you, but you understand.

As to the person who ran into me, I want you to know I'm all right. A bit bruised and scruffed up, but otherwise I'm okay. I know this might seem silly, but I have to ask, did my ex-wife send you? If so, she's going to be really, really, really mad at you. She's definitely going to want her money back. Jon Cavanaugh Agoura Hills
