Upset over administration's 'arrogance' In response to Carl Lane's letter of July 12, why CNN has to reaffirm the viewers that they are "the most trusted name in news" and that Fox News is "fair and balanced." It takes more to be persuaded. Yes, the broadcast news is distorted and one sided. The voices of dissent are eliminated, for example, the Donahue show before the war in Iraq. It was the only show where the war was debated and people were able to see both sides and the lies told by this administration. You also say, "I don't think it is the Republicans that have destroyed our foundation." So where the cronyism, lies, deceits, our rights being eroded, liberty taken away by this administration, isn't it the destruction of the foundation of this beautiful country. Sen. J. William Fulbright (DArk.) said, "We are succumbing to the arrogance of power. The measure of our falling short is the measure of the patriot's duty of dissent." Dissent is a high form of patriotism. It is not judged by placing the American flag on your front yard or as a bumper sticker. The occupation of Iraq has been a disaster and made the U.S. more vulnerable to other foreign threats. This president has destabilized the Middle East, and this war led by this administration has killed 4,000 Americans (soldiers, civilians and suicides) and possibly 1 million people, many of them children and other innocent civilians. We have about two years left of this administration. Let's open our eyes and ears this time and speak out to prevent another war. Do not rely on the mainstream media for the news.
