Thief targets medicine cabinet

I would like to share something with Acorn readers that recently happened to me. The reason I am sharing this is to possibly help people connect the dots. Sometimes when people speak up, they get information that could help another person make sense of something they feel is wrong but can't quite put their finger on. When enough people provide bits and clues, a clearer picture emerges.

Recently a parent was dropping off my child after a play date. This parent then, under the guise of using my restroom, proceeded to steal prescription painkillers from my master bathroom medicine cabinet. I noticed immediately and called the police.

Would you have noticed if this happened to you? Do you keep an eye on your leftover prescriptions from previous surgeries or injuries? Do you have prescriptions missing or that seem smaller than you remember, but just assume that you may have placed them somewhere else or finished them?

Someone in your life may be helping themselves to your medicine cabinet without your knowledge. In my case, it was someone who was not in my life, but stepped foot inside my house for the first time.

Know what prescriptions and amounts you have and keep an active eye on them. Christine Johnson Oak Park
