Demise of our culture is to blame

This letter is in response to Carrie Rackow's letter of July 5. She states: 'The Bush administration has been systematically destroying the foundation that this great nation was built on." Carrie, I don't think it's the Republicans that have destroyed our foundation. It is our permissive culture as your nemesis Bill O'Reilly stated in a recent column speaking about the 40th anniversary of the "summer of love." He states: "There's little mention that 70 percent of African-American babies are now born out of wedlock, while the overall birth rate outside of marriage has gone from 8 percent 40 years ago to 37 percent today. Single-mom homes, of course, are the major driver of poverty in America."

Ms. Rackow is also concerned that nobody listens or watches the liberal news broadcasts. She mentioned Air America radio which I thought was bankrupt because it had no listeners. Also, Bill O'Reilly's listeners outnumber Keith Olbermann's by at least four-to-one.

The letter preceding hers from Larry Brown discusses his concern about illegal immigrants. Larry, they do not want to be called illegal immigrants anymore. They would rather be called "unregistered Democrats."

Carrie, I hope you enjoyed the American flag placed on your lawn on the Fourth of July. Have a nice day.
