Festivities blocked him from his home Is this the home of the free? Apparently not if one lives off of Paul Revere Drive in Calabasas. About 9 p.m. on July 4, I was returning home from a friend's house. Approaching Paul Revere Drive on Mulholland Highway, where I need to make a right turn to get to my home, my way was blocked by a van which, I assumed, was stalled since it was not moved after several minutes. When I attempted to go around I was stopped by a man wearing an orange vest. "Can't you see the street is closed?" he screamed at me. Actually, I couldn't, since his van blocked my view. When I requested that he allow me to pass since I lived in the area he screamed at me some more. For several hours on July 4 the past few years access into my neighborhood has been blocked off while a pyrotechnics display is put on at Calabasas High School. To witness this display, patrons are charged something like $15 per person. Unfortunately, much of the high-altitude display can be seen from the streets in my neighborhood. And most all of the streets in my neighborhood cannot be reached except by way of Paul Revere. Therefore, block off Paul Revere and the freeloaders are blocked. This says nothing about how the loud noises are terrorizing our small children and pets. I would like to know which article of the United States Constitution allows for a commercial enterprise to block a taxpayer's public roadway to restrict any free citizen from gaining access to his home or private property.
