Butterflies will go free

Buena Vista Hospice Care will honor past patients and their families by hosting its second annual Butterfly Releasing Ceremony at 10 a.m. Sat., July 14 at Triunfo Community Park in Westlake Village.

The butterfly has been adopted as the symbol of Buena Vista Hospice because it represents transition and transformation.

Buena Vista is a locally owned Medicarecertified hospice serving areas from the west San Fernando Valley through the city of Ventura. It provides individualized care for people facing life threatening illnesses and conditions and their families.

All hospice families and the community are welcome to join the Buena Vista staff for a morning of music, prayer, poetry and meditation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a photo, poem or special memory to share. The event will feature vocal musical numbers by Paula Marie Jones, music therapist.

The highlight of the morning will be the release of the butterflies- hundreds of them. A light breakfast will be served, and the event is free. For information, call the hospice at (805) 777-1133.
