Book group to discuss classic play

At 1 p.m. Wed., July 18, the Malibu Book Discussion Group will feature a live reading of selections from the play, "The Children's Hour," by Lillian Hellman, with a discussion to follow.

Readers Theater is providing actors for the meeting.

The Malibu book group meets from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesdays in the Point Dume Mobile Home Park club house at 29500 W. Heathercliff Road in Malibu. Anyone is welcome to join at any time. There is no admission or dues charged.

The Malibu and Agoura Hills branches of the Los Angeles County Public Library support the activity by making copies of the plays available for actors and reading group members to borrow. The Agoura Hills and Calabasas libraries have provided rehearsal space for Readers Theater.

The play reading will feature Karen Machon of Agoura, Teza Belmond and Regina Mocey of Agoura Hills, Nancy Solomons of Thousand Oaks, Janice Johnson of Malibu, Jackie Goldberg of Woodland Hills and Margott Rifenbark of Oak Park.

The next reading scheduled for Readers Theater is at 1 p.m. Fri., July 27 at Pierce College, featuring "A Lovely Sight: the Life of Edna St.Vincent Millay," read by Rosemary Bird of Oak Park.
