Local advocate deserved better

After reading the article about Mary Altmann's claim for reimbursement for the money she spent to fight city hall I was left wondering: Why was this article written? It seems to me it was written to embarrass Mrs. Altmann. It seems the writer took every opportunity to diminish all the good that she did and focused on the absurdness of her present actions.

I think the story could have been about how sad it is that a person has to ask for absurd things in order to get what she deserves. I don't think anyone, including Mrs. Altmann, thinks that she will get all that she asks for.

I also think that everyone knows that if she asks for what is fair she will get a fight and have to settle for less. Craig Steele and Peter Pierce probably know this and should have explained this to Ms. Bertholdo before she wrote the article. The article makes them sound like sore losers to me.

By chance I was waiting for my lunch at Islands Restaurant right across from the hills that Mrs. Altmann fought to protect when I read this article. I think it is a great thing that she did. I also know that she is a housewife, mother and caring activist, not a high-priced lawyer, so it's easy for me to forgive a small blunder.
