Charity golf tourney raises $3,000

The Sterling Hills Women's Golf Association in Camarillo recently presented Villa Esperanza of Thousand Oaks with a check for $3,000, which represents the proceeds from the association's second invitational tournament held on May 23 at Sterling Hills Golf Course.

The tournament sold out for the second year in a row with 110 golfers. The association is the only local women's golf club that puts on an invitational tournament with the intent to raise money for a local charity as well as having a day of golf for members and guests.

Villa Esperanza is a local charity that assists youth and adults suffering from Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and other disabling conditions. Villa offers lifemanagement skills, vocational training and support to families, as well as manages a group home in Thousand Oaks where several of their clients reside.

Two Villa clients, Damon Sickman and David Tisciotto, as well as several senior staff members, attended the tournament. Sickman and Tisciotto shared how Villa has impacted their lives in a positive way.

Local merchants and restaurants contributed donations to the tournament which were used in the raffle and silent auction.
