Agoura Hills City Calendar

The following programs are offered by the city of Agoura Hills department of community services. For more information, call (818) 5977361 or go to the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd., Agoura Hills.

+Knight Fever will be the featured artist performing a concert in the park at 6 p.m. Sun., July 8 at Chumash Park, 5550 Medea Valley Drive, Agoura Hills. A fireworks show will follow the concert at 8:45 p.m. The concert is free to the public.

+The Older Adult/Senior Recreation Program will go on a gaming trip to San Manuel Bingo and Casino Wed., July 11. The bus departs from the recreation center at 8 a.m. and returns at 5 p.m. The cost of the trip is $15. Participants will receive $10 toward food purchase at the casino. Space is limited; early reservations are recommended.

+Registrations are being accepted for Sports Camps for children ages 10 to 14. The head coaches of Agoura High School's football and basketball teams will offer weeklong camps from 9 a.m. to noon the week of July 23 through 27. A tennis camp will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon the week of July 30. Camps will be held at Agoura High School, 28545 W. Driver Ave. The basketball camp costs $110, and the football and tennis camps are $150 each.

+The line up for this year's Movies in the Park series is "Big," Sun., July 29 at Reyes Adobe Park and "E.T.," Sun., Aug. 26 at Sumac Park. All movies will begin at dusk, with concessions available starting at 7:30 p.m. Movies are free to the public.

+The Senior Recreation Program will offer a mature driver's training class from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Tues., July 31 at the recreation center. Sy Rifkin will present the defensive driving course for seniors age 55 and over. It can help seniors qualify for reduced auto insurance rates.

The cost of the program is $12 for senior center registrants or $14 for nonmembers.

+The Senior Recreation Program will offer a fourweek water aerobics class from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Thurs., July 12. The class costs $45 a session and will be at Archstone Apartments, 30856 Agoura Road. Senior membership is required.

+Beginning and intermediate tai chi classes are offered to seniors age 50 and older on an ongoing basis Mondays and Wednesdays at Reyes Adobe Park, 30400 Rainbow Crest Drive. The beginning class is from 10 to 11 a.m. and the intermediate class from 9 to 10 a.m. The fee is $29 per month or $4 drop-in. Senior membership is required.
