Think outside the basket

Basket Creations, a designer gift basket business formerly in Santa Barbara, has moved to Calabasas. Basket Creations specializes in designing and customizing gifts that are unique and don't look like they came off an assembly line.

Owner Barbara Thomsen said she likes to "think outside of the basket" when designing the gifts, utilizing many other containers such as popcorn bowls, ornate wooden or cloth boxes, urns, and other reusable or decorative items.

Also available are baby gifts, including the nonedible Diaper Cake. A Diaper Cake is made up of newborn diapers, stacked in tiers to look like a cake. It's decorated with blankets, bibs, booties, clothing, towels, washcloths and other essentials. View samples at www.BasketCreationsLA.com.
