Theme train rides at Fillmore/Western

Fillmore and Western Railways will present several special trains and excursions during the month of July.

+Weekend scenic excursions will take place Saturdays and Sundays in July. The threehour daytime train rides between Fillmore and Santa Paula include a one-hour layover in Santa Paula. Depart Fillmore at noon; return at 3 p.m. Cost is $22 for adults, $20 for seniors, $12 for children ages 4 to 12 and $8 for children up to age 3.

+Sespe Creek Car Show, Festival and Train Rides Wed., July 4. Classic cars, food, crafts, train rides, music and fireworks all in one place. Daytime one-hour train ride is $12 for adults, $7 for youth ages 4 to 12 and $4 for children up to age 3. The dinner train departs at 6:30 p.m. and returns after fireworks show. Cost is $70 for adults, $39 for youth ages 4 to 12 and $20 for children up to age 3.

+Shake, Rattle and Roll Dinner Train, Fri., July 6. A 1950s revue night family dinner train includes music,'50s food favorites and a visit to the Santa Paula Classic Car Cruise. Reservations are required. Price is adults, $40; youth 4 to12, $26; and children to age 3, $20.

+Murder Mystery Dinner Train, Sat., July 14. "Bugle Boy Murders Of Company C" is set in 1942 with big band leader Harry McCain, singers, movie stars and GIs returning home for Christmas. The interactive murder mystery includes audience participation; guests are encouraged to dress in period costumes. The three-hour train ride will depart at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $89 per person. Reservations required.

+Margarita Madness Dinner Train, Sat., July 21. During the train ride through the Heritage Valley, guests are served a meal of chips and salsa, rice, beans, cheese enchilada, tamale and margarita. A mariachi band plays on the open air car. Cost is $49. A nohost bar is available. Reservations are required. All riders must be at least 21 years old.

+Murder Mystery Dinner Train, Sat., July 28. "When The West Was Wild" is set in 1874 in the booming town of Fillmore. Rumors of a gold strike in the hills have attracted folks of dubious character. When the dust settles, who will be left to tell the tale?
