American Red Cross to host blood drive

The American Red Cross seeks blood donors who can give at the Woodland Hills Donor Center, 6338 Variel Ave., across from Home Depot.

The Woodland Hills Center collects whole blood as well as muchneeded blood platelets. Whole blood is collected three days per week. As the donor base increases, the center's goal is to be open seven days a week to meet the local hospital demand.

Collection hours for whole blood are 1 to 8 p.m. Mondays, 1 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays and 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturdays. Walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment to give whole blood, call (800)Give-Life (448-3543).

Collection shifts for blood platelets are by appointment only. Shift times are noon, 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays; 10 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. Thursdays; and 6:30 a.m., 9 a.m. and noon Fridays and Saturdays.
