Cal Lutheran offers numerous summer camps for kids

A variety of youth athletic camps will be held at California Lutheran University during the summer. The camps include instruction in basketball, baseball, tennis, soccer, football, water polo, dance and cheerleading.

The Lu Dog Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 5 to 14 will be held July 9-13, July16-20 and July 30-Aug. 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The camps will offer individual instruction in ball handling, passing, shooting, defensive stance and other basic skills.

Hoop Rat Point Guard, Perimeter Play Basketball Camp and the Hoop Rat Shooting and Individual Offensive Moves Basketball Camp for boys and girls ages 7 to 17 will be held in July and August.

The Point Guard Camp will be held July 23-25 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The threeday camp will focus on developing good communication, how and when to encourage teammates and how to maximize skills.

The Shooting Camp will be held Aug. 6-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Instruction will focus on developing the steps for good form, shooting, moves off the dribble and how to develop a personal shooting workout.

The Lu Dawg Baseball Camps for boys and girls ages 6 to 14 will be held June 25-29, July 9-13, July 16-20, July 23-27 and July 30-Aug. 3 on the new CLU George "Sparky" Anderson Baseball Field.

With personal instruction and games, the camps will emphasize fundamentals and techniques of the game of baseball in order to build confidence and reduce risk of injury.

A Specialty Camp will be held Aug. 4-8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with hitting, pitching and base running. For information, call (805) 493-3398 or register online at www.ludawg.com

The Total Tennis Academy for ages 5 to 18 will be held June 1922, June 26-29, July 2, 3, 5 and 6 (no camp on July 4), July 10-13, July 1720, July 2427, July 21Aug. 3, Aug. 7-10, Aug. 14-17, Aug. 13-24 and Aug. 28-31.

Half-day sessions run from 9:30 a.m. to noon and full-day sessions from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The camp will focus on development of proper technique and competitive skills. For details and registration, call (805) 495-0111.

Team Soccer Direct will hold camps for boys and girls ages 5 to 18 from 9 a.m. to noon for halfdays and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for fullday camps.

The five-day sessions will be held June 18-22, June 25-29, July 16-20, July 23-27, July 30-Aug. 3, Aug. 610, Aug. 1317 and Aug. 2024. Positional afternoon training is available during all standard weeks.

All-Sports Camps for both boys and girls ages 5 to 14 will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 18-22, June 25-29, July 16-20, July 23-27, July 30-Aug. 3, Aug. 6-10, Aug. 13-17 and Aug. 20-24.

The National Kicking Camp for youths of all ages will be held on July 24-26. Led by coach Jim Power, the three-day, two-night camp will focus on kicking, punting and long snapping. For more information, visit www.kickpunt.com.

The Quarterbacks and Receivers Football Camp for high school youths will be held June 23-26 and July 12-15.
