A deep thanks to Mark Blum

I believe there are angels living amongst us. Mark Blum, the Agoura Hills founder of Mission With Bikes, is one of these angels.

I had the pleasure of meeting this extraordinary human being last year. He doesn't look anything like what you would expect an angel to look like. In fact the day I saw him he was scruffy and chain-smoking. But make no mistake, Mark Blum is an angel.

This is evidenced by the needy children who received all of the bicycles Mark and his helpers collected, refurbished and distributed over nine years. This could not have been an easy task considering lack of funds, physical limitations, space limitations, chronic pain, paralysis and the many debilitating losses that have resulted as a result of Mark's multiple sclerosis.

Although I don't know this man personally, I want to say "Thank you, Mark."

Thanks for your contributions to our world and to our small community. You have shown all of us how to keep up the good fight, live a purposeful life despite limitations and continue to be generous of spirit. Good for you!

As I write this letter to The Acorn, I am hoping my friends and neighbors will join together and help Mark in his time of need.

This is a beautiful family community. Many of us are blessed with good health and an affluent lifestyle. Tell your kids; "Our family is helping the "Bicycle Angel of Agoura Hills."
