Bicyclist in Agoura hit by motorist An unidentified man riding his bicycle on Thousand Oaks Boulevard in Agoura Hills was struck by a truck Tuesday and airlifted to UCLA Medical Center for treatment of undisclosed injuries. According to Sgt. Todd Weber of Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, the driver hit the bicyclist while turning from southbound Lake Lindero Drive to eastbound Thousand Oaks Boulevard. The bicyclist was unconscious at the scene, Weber said. Weber said the man appeared to be in his early 20s, but he was not carrying any identification. Det. Richard Curry said the station received word of the accident around noon. He described the truck as being similar to a Ford Ranger, "a Baha type," he said. Curry had strong words of caution for bicyclists. "Be aware of your surroundings," he said. "Always watch for cars because cars may not be watching you." To emphasize the importance of keeping a watchful eye while riding a bicycle, Curry referred to a study he had read regarding the measurement of brain activity for drivers who are on the road and how they reacted to different visual stimuli. While cars and trucks triggered noticeable brain activity, drivers had little to no brain reaction to motorcyclists or bicyclists. "It's kind of scary," Curry said. | |||||
