Art sale will benefit the environment

Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment will present "Island and Estuaries," a benefit exhibit and sale of paintings, from July 1 through 29 at the Faulkner Gallery, Santa Barbara Main Library, 40 E. Anapamu St., Santa Barbara.

A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri., July 6 at the gallery. Proceeds will benefit the UC Santa Barbara's Santa Cruz Island Reserve and Friends of Coal Oil Point Reserve.

Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment was founded in 2002 and has grown to more than 200 members. The group includes nationally known artists, students, patrons and gallery owners. Membership is open to everyone who would like to participate.

The group has raised money for local organizations such as the Environmental Defense Center, UCSB's Sedgwick Reserve and Coal Oil Point Reserve, the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, the Art Walk at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History and Santa Barbara Channelkeeper, among others.
