Junior Fire Academy sessions to begin soon

The sixth annual Junior Fire Academy will be offered in two one-week sessions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, July 9 to 13 and July 16 to 20 at the Ventura County Fire Department's Regional Training Center, 102 Durley Ave. at the Camarillo Airport.

The program is open to youth ages 13 to 16 and will allow participants to explore all aspects of the fire service, including fire suppression tactics, basic first aid/ CPR and rescue and emergency operations. The week will conclude with a career day and graduation with a barbecue lunch.

Cost is $25. Each session is limited to 25 teenagers. Registration is taken on a first come, first served basis.
