Motorcycle deputies receive wildfire training

READY TO GO- Law enforcement officers take a break during their recent fire training at the Lost Hills Sheriff's Station. The deputies are often first on the scene when a fire breaks out.
The Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station hosted a training day last weekend that focused on how deputies should respond to local wild land fires.

In attendance were more than two dozen motorcycle deputies assigned to various units throughout the county of Los Angeles. The motor deputies are equipped to be the first on the scene during wild land fires.

The training helped the deputies become familiar with local fire evacuation plans, including evacuation routes and "shelterinplace" areas, along with general familiarization of main arteries and thoroughfares.

The training will benefit the communities served by the Malibu/Lost Hills Station and adjoining sections of Los Angeles city and Ventura County in the event of a mutual aid request. Those participating in the training included uniformed and civilian personnel with skills and knowledge relating to local needs and requirements during wild land fires.
