Walk your pup to the Pooch Parade

The 10th annual Pooch Parade will meander into Ventura on Sun., July 22 at the San Buenaventura State Beach Park in Ventura. All dogs are invited and may bring their masters with them.

The event, hosted by the Canine Adoption & Rescue League (CARL), will feature a fundraising dog walk and pet expo which will support dog rescue, rehabilitation, adoption and dog owner education programs.

Dogs can enter to compete in several contests. Awards will be given for best costume, most obedient, best trick, best tail wag, best kisser and best in show. Pups will be performing in front of celebrity judges so any serious contestants might want to begin practicing their best moves as soon as possible to be ready for the summer event.

More than 40 pet vendors will be on hand showing grooming tools, pet beds and unique dog toys. There will also be dog and people massages and "clipsfor-tips" at the pet nail salon.

The silent auction promises goodies for both canines and their humans including pet portraits, themed baskets and golf and spa packages (those are for the humans in the family only).
