Young violinist to solo in concert

The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestra will perform in concert at 3 p.m. Sun., June 3 at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, Fred Kavli Theatre, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Thousand Oaks. Free tickets are available from (805) 844-8917.

A featured violinist in the concert is Joshua Hong, 17, of Thousand Oaks. In 2006 Joshua was selected as a Discovery Artist with the New West Symphony and will perform with the symphony in 2007.

For the last two years he has performed on the Ventura Music Festival Rising Stars Program and the recent New West Discovery Artists program. Since 1998, he has played violin in the Conejo Valley Youth Orchestras and is presently concertmaster.

Joshua is a junior at Crossroads School.
