'Beauty and the Beast' at Cabrillo

Cabrillo Music Theatre has announced its final production in the 2007 season, "Disney's Beauty and the Beast," opening Fri., July 27 and running through Sun., Aug. 5 in the Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 Thousand Oaks Blvd.

The music is by Alan Menken, with lyrics by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice and book by Linda Woolverton. This production is directed by Lewis Wilkenfeld, with musical direction by Tom Griffin and choreography by Peggy Hickey.

Based on the Disney movie of the same name, the show tells the story of a young man cursed to live out his life as a beast and a young woman whose interests and behavior have left her equally lonely. They are brought together by a singing teapot, an amorous candelabra, a fussy clock and an army of enchanted objects.

Songs include "Beauty and the Beast," "Be Our Guest," "Belle," "Gaston" and several written especially for the stage production.

Performances are Thursday through Saturdays at 8 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m., and an added Sunday evening show at 7 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased at the box office, through any Ticketmaster location or by phone at (805) 583-8700. For groups of 12 or more, call Group Sales at (805) 497-8615.

Ticket prices range from $22 to $51. For ticket and theatre information, call (805) 449-2787.
