Support Oak Park High's Hoop-a-Thon

The South Asian Club of Oak Park High School will sponsor a Hoop-a-Thon from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sun., June 3 in the school gym, 899 Kanan Road, Oak Park.

Guests of all ages are invited to obtain sponsors prior to the event. At the hoop-a-thon, each guest will shoot 10 free throws. There is no cost to register. Prizes will be given for most baskets and most funds raised.

The event will include refreshments and a live band.

Those unable to participate in the event may make a donation.

The funds will help provide child laborers in India's carpet industry with a safe childhood, education and vocational training. The event is in partnership with Our Voices Together, a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that supports worthwhile international projects, fosters goodwill and promotes understanding.

Last year the event raised more than $3,000. OPHS 10thgrader Waahid Azizuddin coordinated last year's fundraiser and serves as the club president this year. The club has about 10 to 12 boys.
