A one-day workshop on freelance writing, "Writing Articles for Newspapers and Magazines," will be offered from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sat., June 2 at Pierce College, 6201 Winnetka Ave., Woodland Hills.

The instructor is Janey Rifkin, a Calabasasbased journalist and executive editor of a national magazine.

The class will guide students through the writing process, help students analyze the market, provided tools to prepare an article for publication and give the rules for proper presentation.
